Corporate Retreat in Siwa — The Hidden Gem of Egypt

18 June 2026 · 6 min read

Travellers walking through a palm oasis in Siwa, Egypt at golden hour

Eight hours from Cairo, Siwa trades meeting rooms for salt lakes and palm groves. Here is how we turned that distance into the point of the retreat.

The brief

The client — a regional leadership team of 28 — had spent two years operating across three countries and mostly over video. The mandate was blunt: get them in one place, get them talking honestly, and come away with a shared plan for the year.

Siwa was chosen precisely because it is hard to reach. Distance creates commitment: once the convoy leaves the coastal road, nobody is stepping out for a call.

What TON did

We ran a three-day programme built around a simple rhythm — structured strategy work in the cool mornings, exploration in the afternoons, and unstructured time around a fire at night, which is where most of the real conversations happened.

Logistics covered convoy transport with two support vehicles, a licensed local guide team, full-board catering with dietary tracking, a medic on site, and a documented risk plan for every off-road segment.

The outcome

The team left with a one-page plan they had actually argued their way to, plus a measurable jump in their internal engagement pulse in the quarter that followed.

Siwa works best for leadership groups of 15–35 between October and April. Below that headcount it can feel thin; above it, the oasis logistics get expensive fast.
